Two workers were taken to the UCI Medical Center Burn Unit with face and hand injuries suffered when a woodworking machine caught fire Wednesday at a Costa Mesa firm.
Acting Battalion Chief Jim Ellis said the men, who were unidentified, were airlifted after a flash fire erupted about 4:30 p.m. near sawdust next to machinery. The firm, a manufacturing business, is at 1621 Placentia Ave. Ellis did not know its name.
Although their injuries appeared minor, Ellis said, the men were taken to the burn unit as a precaution.
A hospital spokeswoman said they were in satisfactory condition.
