Local News in Brief : North Hollywood Man Found Slain on Walk

Los Angeles police Sunday were investigating the slaying of a North Hollywood man who was shot to death on a Sun Valley sidewalk, authorities said.
Officers from the Foothill Division were called to the 9000 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard about 6 a.m. Saturday after a man was seen lying on the sidewalk, said Sgt. Sol Polen.
Steven Michael Smith, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, Polen said.
Police had no suspects in custody Sunday, and said they had no motive for the killing.
