Karl Munchinger will not conduct the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra on April 19 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa as announced. Munchinger, 72, has been ill and was advised by Columbia Artists, who represent him in New York, not to undertake a tour at this time, according to Erich Vollmer, executive director of the Orange County Philharmonic Society which is sponsoring the event. Patrick Strub, who regularly conducts the orchestra, will appear in Munchinger’s place.
Vollmer also announced that baritone Thomas Hampson will not appear with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra on April 10 at the Center but will be replaced by William Parker. Soprano Christine Ascher has been added to the program. Vollmer said the changes were made by the orchestra, which will be led by Christof Perick as announced.
