The American Assn. of Neurological Surgeons has filed a $10-million federal suit in Chicago against NBC and MTM Enterprises, the creators of “St. Elsewhere.” The medical society claims that a Nov. 4, 1987, episode linked it to “adultery, philandering, male chauvinism and lawbreaking” when it portrayed two doctors attending a convention of the “Cushing Society.” One of the doctors relished the presence of “high-paid bimbos” at the convention, while the other left as a result of the unprofessional atmosphere. The neurological association was founded in 1931 as the Harvey Cushing Society, later changing its name. A spokesman for “St. Elsewhere,” which is in its final season, said there would be no comment.
