Inmate’s Escape Idea Gets Him Into a Jam

An inmate trying to escape from Los Angeles police headquarters was captured Sunday when he became stuck in a second-floor window, authorities said.
Felipe Perez, 26, of Tijuana was being held in a padded cell in Parker Center, Sgt. Marvin Morton said. Perez was awaiting a court appearance on auto theft charges.
About 7 a.m. Sunday, he was able to squeeze out of his cell when the door was left partly open. He made his way to a window opening onto a ledge about 20 feet above the ground.
A jailer noticed Perez stuck in the small window “and latched onto him,” Morton said.
Firefighters placed a ladder against the building, “and we pushed him back through,” Morton said.
