4 Refuse to Post Bond in Attack on Battleship

NORFOLK, Va. — Four protesters accused of attacking the battleship Iowa with hammers, bolt cutters and vials of what appeared to be blood will remain in jail rather than post bond, a supporter said Monday.
Longtime activist and former Catholic priest Philip Berrigan, 64, Gregory Boertje, 32, Andrew Lawrence, 28, and Sister Margaret McKenna, 57, all face misdemeanor trespassing charges. Magistrate Tommy Miller set bond at $2,500 each, which supporter Max Obuszewski said they would not post.
The four allegedly boarded the battleship with a tour group Sunday, then slipped away and attacked two launching boxes holding Tomahawk missiles.
