AIDS Cases in Europe More Than Double

GENEVA — AIDS cases officially reported in Europe more than doubled in 1987, rising by the end of the year to 10,181 from 4,549 a year earlier, the World Health Organization said today.
It said France registered the biggest increase--550 cases--for a total 3,073, the highest on the continent. It was followed by Italy, West Germany, Spain, Britain, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
