Miami Officer Gets 35-Year Term for Reselling Drugs

MIAMI — A Miami police officer found guilty of racketeering and drug charges has been sentenced to 35 years in prison and fined $250,000. U.S. District Judge Kenneth L. Ryskamp said Thursday that Osvaldo Coello, 28, will have to serve at least 11 years before being eligible for parole. Prosecutors said Coello belonged to a band of 15 corrupt officers who stole drugs from smugglers and resold them.
