Local News in Brief : Kitten Killer Sentenced

An Atwater man was sentenced Monday to one month in County Jail for killing his wife’s 6-week-old kitten by putting it in a microwave oven during a drunken rage.
George Jimenez, 26, was also placed on two years’ probation during which time he must undergo psychological counseling and is forbidden to harass or molest his wife.
In addition, Los Angeles Municipal Judge Suzanne Person ordered Jimenez to pay a $150 fine or spend an additional five days in jail.
Jimenez was sentenced after pleading no contest to one misdemeanor count of cruelty to animals for placing the kitten in the microwave after becoming enraged with his wife for going to a movie with a friend.
