Local News in Brief : Actor Won’t Be Charged

No charges will be filed against actor Jan-Michael Vincent because pills found in the car in which he was a passenger turned out to be caffeine, Dist. Atty. spokesman Al Albergate said Monday.
The remnants of a marijuana cigarette also were found in the car last Wednesday, Albergate said, but “nobody’s fessing up to ownership,” so no charges will be filed for that either.
Vincent, 42, of Malibu, and his wife, Joanne, were stopped by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in Agoura Hills because the borrowed car they were driving had expired registration tags. Deputies initially said the pills found in Vincent’s briefcase were amphetamines, and he was arrested on suspicion of illegal drug possession. But a laboratory analysis determined that the pills were caffeine, Albergate said.
Vincent, the star of the former television series “Airwolf,” has had a series of legal problems since 1983, including a drunk driving conviction.
