Local News in Brief : Canoga Park Man Held in Mother’s Stabbing

A Canoga Park man who police said stabbed his mother and then barricaded himself in his apartment surrendered after a four-hour standoff.
Casey Ross, 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and was being held without bail at the Devonshire Division Jail, Los Angeles police said. His mother, Nanette Ross, was in good condition at an undisclosed hospital.
Police said Casey Ross is suspected of stabbing his mother about 4 a.m. Tuesday in their apartment in the 8600 block of De Soto Avenue. After the mother staggered out of the apartment and neighbors called police, the son locked himself in the apartment.
Police said he refused to come out but surrendered about 8 a.m. when police Special Weapons and Tactics team members arrived and surrounded the apartment.
