El Capitan 5, Granite Hills 4--Junior Jason Phipps (4-2) struck out seven to get the win for El Capitan (8-7, 3-3). Phipps pitched out of a bases-loaded one-out jam in the sixth. Shane Boyd hit a two-run home run for Granite Hills (9-6, 3-3).
Santana 12, Monte Vista 1--Bruce Moutaw and Jason Cabral each hit two-run homers to power No. 4 Santana (14-4, 5-2) at Monte Vista. Jeff Matranga (6-0) pitched five scoreless innings to pick up the win. Monte Vista is 9-9 and 2-4.
Mt. Miguel 10, El Cajon Valley 6--Doug Kemp hit a two-run homer and Daryl Ayres hit a solo shot for host Mt. Miguel (4-11, 3-3). El Cajon Valley is 4-11 and 0-6.
CITY WESTERN LEAGUE
USDHS 9, Mission Bay 6 (10 innings)--Brian Boyd singled in one run and Tony Moeder singled in two as visiting USDHS scored three times in the 10th to hand No. 1 Mission Bay (16-1-1, 6-1) its first loss.
“Thank God, really,” Dennis Pugh, Mission Bay coach, said. “I’m tired of the whole thing; it’s hard to do everything right all the time.”
Duke Gonzales gained the victory with 3 scoreless innings of relief. USDHS is 9-7 and 4-2. Sean Rees had two hits and three RBIs for Mission Bay.
La Jolla 6, University City 5--Reliever Willie Thompson retired Jeff Sevier with runners on first and third and two out to preserve the victory for No. 9 La Jolla (13-5, 5-2). University City is 7-9 and 1-5.
Kearny 10, Clairemont 4--Jason Adams had three hits and three RBIs to lead host Kearny (6-10-1, 2-5). Brian Archer (4-2) and John Williamson combined on a four-hitter. Clairemont is 5-12 and 2-5.
METRO CONFERENCE
Sweetwater 5, Chula Vista 0--Ben Gil (4-1) had three hits and pitched a two-hitter for Sweetwater (9-9-1, 3-2). Chula Vista is 7-10 and 4-1.
Bonita Vista 6, Southwest 2--Bonita Vista (13-5, 4-1) managed only two hits but took advantage of six Southwest errors to win at home. Randy Abshier (6-1) pitched a nine-hitter to win. Southwest is 1-14 and 0-5.
Mar Vista 9, Marian 5--Ed Sandez went the distance and Jose Galaz hit a three-run homer and Benny Barba a three-run double for Mar Vista (4-13, 1-4). Marian is 3-12-1 and 1-4.
Castle Park 10, Coronado 5--Cesar Gutierrez and Joe Carillo drove in four runs each to lead No. 5 Castle Park (16-3-1, 4-1) at home. Sergio Hicks (6-0) went five innings for the win. Coronado is 12-5 and 3-2.
CITY EASTERN LEAGUE
Serra 3, Morse 2--Calvin Jacobs drove in two runs with a two-out single to give Serra (5-12, 1-6) its first league win. David Grigsby was 3 for 3, with a double and a triple Morse is 10-8 and 4-3.
Madison 6, Patrick Henry 1--Devin Fitzmaurice pitched a three-hitter and Buzz Brown drove in three runs to lead No. 2 Madison (18-1, 7-0). Fitzmaurice (8-0) struck out nine and walked three. Patrick Henry is 8-8 and 3-4.

Hoover 11, Lincoln 6--Felipe Preciado (6-0) went the distance and had three hits for No. 10 Hoover (13-6, 6-1). Mike McKnight hit his third home run.
