The decaying southern Italian town of Pozzuoli, where Sophia Loren grew up, wants to erect a statue of the 54-year-old film star to attract tourists. A group of residents in the town near Naples has formed an association to lobby local authorities to build the statue. Town residents believe a statue could attract as many tourists as the town’s Roman ruins.
