‘Lonely Woman Seeks Life Companion’
U.S.S.R, 1986, 91 minutes , 10:15 p.m . In a way, this is a Soviet “Marty”--down to Viacheslav Krishtofovich’s functional direction. But the script and performances give it distinction--especially Irina Kupchenko as the woman whose lonely hearts ad brings an unwelcomely needy and drunken ex-circus acrobat into her life. Compassionate realism, well executed. RECOMMENDED.
