NASA will probably have to push back the Aug. 4 launch date for the first post-Challenger shuttle mission by about 10 days because it is taking longer than expected to assemble Discovery’s redesigned booster rockets, an official said. Arnold D. Aldrich, director of the shuttle program, said at the 25th Space Congress meeting in Cocoa Beach, Fla., near the Kennedy Space Center, that NASA probably will not officially make a decision on a new date until after the assembly process has made more progress.
