McDonnell Douglas Corp.’s income rose 19% to $51.2 million. First-quarter sales were $3.2 billion, up from $3 billion in the year-ago period. The company noted that it delivered 24 MD-80 aircraft in the 1988 quarter, compared to 13 a year ago. Revenue from other major lines of business was up only slightly, the St. Louis-based company said.
