Both east and westbound lanes of McFadden Street crossing beneath the Costa Mesa Freeway between Santa Ana and Tustin will be closed today through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while Caltrans and utility company crews move power lines, said Albert Miranda, a Caltrans spokesman.
On Monday, Caltrans will remove half of the McFadden Street freeway overpass to accommodate the widening and reconstruction of that crossing. All southbound lanes of the Costa Mesa Freeway will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. next Tuesday during the removal.
During the same hours, southbound lanes on the Santa Ana Freeway also will be closed entering the southbound Costa Mesa Freeway lanes at the interchange along with the northbound commuter lane between Edinger Avenue and 1st Street.
Also Tuesday, all northbound lanes on the Costa Mesa Freeway will be closed during the same night hours, as will the northbound on-ramps off Edinger and McFadden, and the southbound commuter lane, Miranda said.
Caltrans will have lane closure and detour signs posted in the area throughout the week to guide motorists, Miranda said.
