Backup on the Ventura Freeway
At its very best, the Ventura Freeway during commuting hours is an unpleasant experience. A distraction of even the most minute kind is virtually a guarantee of an instant slowdown.
For Caltrans, an organization theoretically aware of our endemic freeway problems, to imagine for a moment that a remote broadcast by a radio station from an overpass would not become a major traffic problem is a demonstration of a single-digit IQ (Metro, May 11).
After having caused a 15-mile backup, to have the station’s marketing manager offer up the flaccid excuse that the Louise overpass was chosen because “it was not a major overpass” boggles the imagination.
Folks, it’s tough enough out there already without imbecilic stunts like that.
