A bomb exploded outside the campaign headquarters of Sen. Daniel E. Boatwright (D-Concord) after two telephone threats against the lawmaker. Concord police said eight people were in the office at the time, but there were no injuries. Marc Grossman, a campaign aide, said the phone threats were made at Boatwright’s legislative office in Concord and the building was evacuated. Grossman said the bomb was described as 6 inches wide, 2 to 3 inches high and glued to a board. The blast was heard 2 miles away. Boatwright is running for reelection in the June 7 primary against Contra Costa County Supervisor Suzanne McPeak.
