Local News in Brief : Suspect in Killing Arrested
- Share via
After a week of stakeouts, police in Shreveport, La., said they found a reputed Inglewood gang member in an attic hideaway Wednesday and arrested him in connection with a killing in Shreveport last month.
Ray (Jo Jo) Ward, 18, was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder, said Shreveport Police Lt. Jerry Johnson. He said Ward is a suspect in the killing of Jessie Hall, 24, who was shot in the back May 21 in what police believe was a drug deal that went awry.
Ten officers converged early Wednesday on the house where Ward was found, but an initial search did not turn up anything. Even a police dog failed to detect Ward’s hiding place.
Johnson said he and Officer Richard Kenner then spotted what appeared to be an 18-inch opening into the attic and investigated. Ward was found unarmed.
