Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport dropped in April, compared to the same month a year ago, along with total aircraft operations, airport officials report.
Airline passenger traffic was off 8.4% while aircraft operations were down 4.3%. The actual passenger count decreased to 369,614 in April from 403,348 in April, 1987. Aircraft operations dropped from 44,735 to 42,826.
General aviation, which accounts for 84% of the total number of takeoffs and landings at Orange County’s only major commercial airport, dropped about 1% in April compared to the same month in 1987.
Air carrier operations showed a decrease of 3.1% during April, while commuter air-taxi operations showed a substantial drop of 32.9% when compared to the same levels recorded in April, 1987.
