Schoolchildren Struck by Car; 1 Dies, 7 Hurt

DETROIT — A man lost control of his car, drove over a curb near a middle school and plowed into a group of children walking home Friday, killing a 14-year-old boy and injuring at least seven others, authorities said.
Police spokesman Fred Zaharoff said the 66-year-old man, who was not identified, was arrested after hitting the children near the Rosa Parks Middle School. Police said they did not not know how or why the man lost control of his car.
