LA JOLLA — Geoff Brooks, executive director of the La Jolla Chamber Music Society, will announce his resignation at the organization’s annual meeting tonight at the UC San Diego Faculty Club.
During Brooks’ six-year tenure, the society’s annual budget rose from $250,000 to more than $1 million. Several concert series were added, including SummerFest, the financially successful and highly praised summer chamber music festival, and a pair of series in downtown San Diego featuring international soloists and orchestras.
Brooks said he decided to leave for personal reasons and will remain with the society until a replacement can be found, sometime after SummerFest ’88 ends Aug. 30. He has not taken a new position. Before joining the La Jolla organization, he was on the staff of the Orange County Symphony and the Pasadena Symphony.
