Shots Rake Golden Hill Home

A Golden Hill apartment was sprayed with gunfire early Saturday morning after a mother was awakened by someone banging on her front door. No one inside was injured.
Police said Shirley Spells, 42, was alone with her 6-year-old child in her apartment in the 500 block of North 28th Street about 1 a.m. when the banging on the door woke her on the couch. The knocking suddenly stopped, and gunfire sounded from a .38-caliber automatic weapon.
Police said three shots were fired into the door, seven into the front window and, moments later, one more shot shattered the kitchen window. Spells screamed for help, and the apartment manager called police.
Police said no arrests were made and don’t believe that the incident was gang-related.
