Charles Desmarais, director of the California Museum of Photography at UC Riverside, has been named director of the Laguna Art Museum. Desmarais succeeds William Otten, who resigned last November to become president of the Art Institute of Southern California. Desmarais came to Riverside from Chicago to oversee the university’s collections of historical photography, photographic equipment and stereo negatives, to organize an exhibitions program and to develop plans for moving the museum to a larger facility off campus.
