“SANE”--Substance Abuse Narcotics Education--will be the operative word Saturday for eight hours on KHJ-TV, as the station joins with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to present a “SANE Kids Say No” telethon.
From 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., sheriff’s deputies, celebrities and community leaders will discuss the drug crisis and seek support to wipe out drug abuse.
Among the many schools supporting the SANE program is Mint Canyon Elementary School in Canyon Country, where one project included launching balloons with anti-drug messages. Responses came from as far away as Rosarita Beach in Mexico.
