SoCal Gas Names Farman to Chairman, CEO Posts

Richard D. Farman, 52, has been named to replace Robert M. McIntyre as chairman and chief executive of Southern California Gas Co., the nation’s largest natural gas utility. McIntyre retires at the end of the year.
Farman has been vice chairman since February, 1987. He joined the gas company in 1978 from Unionamerica Inc., where he was executive vice president.
McIntyre is active in numerous community service and civic organizations and previously served as chairman of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
The retiring chairman, who turns 65 in December, has been with the utility for 36 years and has been chairman and chief executive since 1985.
Farman is a director of Union Bank of California and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of the executive committee of the Central City Assn. of Los Angeles. He is also a member of Los Angeles World Affairs Council, Town Hall of California and the American and Pacific Coast Gas associations.
