A 13-year-old Westminster boy accidentally shot in the leg by his 9-year-old neighbor was listed in stable condition Wednesday in the intensive care unit at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The boys were playing with a third youth Tuesday inside the garage of the 9-year-old’s home in the 7200 block of 20th Street when the younger boy found his father’s loaded, 12-gauge shotgun wrapped in a blanket, Westminster Police Sgt. Larry Russell said.
The 9-year-old boy then accidentally shot the 13-year-old at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
The names of both boys were withheld because of their age, police said.
