StarTel Corp., an Irvine-based telecommunications company, reported net income of $26,000 for the second quarter, contrasted with a $437,000 loss for the comparable period in 1987. Revenue increased 18%, to $2.7 million from $2.3 million a year earlier. Net income for the first six months of the year was $171,000, contrasted with a loss last year of $1.2 million. Revenue rose 40%, to $5.9 million from $4.2 million in the like period of 1987. Don Berry, chairman, attributed the improvement over the first half of 1987 to better performance in both the international and domestic markets.
