Mater Dei Advances in Servite Basketball

Mike Morris scored 21 points to lead Mater Dei High School to a 65-39 victory over Ocean View Friday night in the quarterfinals of the Servite summer basketball tournament at Servite.
Ted Pelonis scored 10 points to lead Ocean View.
In other quarterfinal play, St. Paul defeated Lakewood, 89-86.
In first-round games, Scott McCorkle scored 24 points to lead Capistrano Valley to an 89-69 victory over Fountain Valley; Steve Marusich scored 18 points as Servite defeated Charter Oak, 74-43; Rolling Hills beat Marina, 79-75, and Long Beach Poly defeated St. Monica, 60-57.
In the consolation quarterfinals, West Covina defeated Westminster, 55-48, and Dominguez defeated Los Alamitos, 75-66.
