Dennis Conner and a West German crew of two won a match-racing series and $75,000 at Timmendorfer Strand on the Baltic Sea last weekend, according to his Stars & Stripes America’s Cup syndicate in San Diego.

Other competitors included world match racing circuit regulars Peter Gilmour of Australia, Chris Dickson of New Zealand and Harold Cudmore of Britain, all of whom were eliminated before the semifinals. In the semifinals, Conner defeated West Germany’s Alex Hagen and Achim Griese, then defeated the German Olympic Soling team of Peter Redde in the best-of-three final by 10 seconds and 1 second.
