Local News in Brief : Women File Bias Suit
- Share via
Four women who drive buses or trucks for the Compton Unified School District have filed a class-action sex-discrimination suit against the district, alleging that male co-workers harass them and post nude pictures at work.
The women, Andrea Ross, Diane Thompson, Glenetta Graves and Anna St. Clair, filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court on behalf of themselves and other women bus and truck drivers in the district.
The suit said that since 1979, the district has engaged in “unlawful employment practices based on sex,” including allowing “posting of nude and semi-nude pictures of females and the depiction of females in explicit sexual positions in and around the work area.”
The women complained that they were subjected to “vulgar language used by male employees on a daily basis” and “unwelcome sexual remarks.”
The suit seeks unspecified damages, costs of the suit and a permanent injunction to force the district to stop the alleged practices.
