I agree with Steigerwald that there may be millions of American adults who choose to use recreational drugs responsibly without becoming addicts. The ABC program was much more propaganda than enlightening analysis, and didn’t attempt to explore a full spectrum of viewpoints, such as decriminalization and/or legalization of drug use.
America is going through a hysterical cycle analogous to the McCarthy era: Just substitute the word drugs for communism.
