‘Great Expectations’ Sets Tone for North Coast Rep’s Season

An adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Great Expectations” by Barbara Fields, dramaturge of the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, is the first of four West Coast premieres in the North Coast Repertory Theatre’s new five-play season. The play will be jointly produced with United States International University--the first such collaboration for the North Coast Rep--and will run Oct. 7-Nov. 13.

“To Forgive, Divine,” a new romantic comedy by Jack Neary, who penned the North Coast Rep’s popular “Road Company” and “First Night,” is scheduled for a March 3-April 9 run. Also having their premieres, in the comic vein: “The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940,” a comedy--and not a musical--about Hollywood stars of the ‘40s, Nov. 25-Dec. 31, and Ted Talley’s “Little Footsteps,” a story about people who put off having children until their late 30s, Jan. 13-Feb. 19.

Edward Albee’s “Tiny Alice,” a troubling story of a priest who visits a rich parishioner, completes the season with an April 21-May 28 run.
