A 33-year-old Escondido man died Friday morning after he fell from his bicycle into the path of an oncoming car and was run over.
According to San Diego County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ken Crossman, the accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. while the cyclist, Timothy Brian Dunn, was westbound on San Marcos Boulevard west of Grand Avenue.
A witness told investigating officers that Dunn, who was riding on the shoulder of the road, apparently lost control and fell into the westbound lane of traffic, where a motorist unsuccessfully swerved to avoid him.
Dunn received severe head and chest injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The car, described only as white, did not stop, Crossman said. He asked that anyone with information about the car or its driver call the Vista sheriff’s substation at 940-4551.
