Surfing Final Today at San Clemente Pier

Thirty-two surfers, including defending champion Craig Comen of Huntington Beach and top-seeded Mike Lambresi of Carlsbad, will compete today for the $4,000 first prize in the U.S. Pro Tour of Surfing and Bodyboarding at San Clemente Pier.
Sixteen surfers qualified Saturday to meet the 16 seeded competitors.
Competition today will be in four heats beginning at 6 a.m. Judges will cut the field to four for the final at 1:30 p.m.
Second place is $2,000, and third place is $1,000.
In the bodyboarding event, 16 competitors remain, including defending U.S. champion Mike Stewart. Top prize is $1,200.
