In response to the editorial “Support for Child Support,” Aug. 3:
Congratulations to The Times for its support of child-support payments as a voluntary payroll deduction. Recently, I sponsored a resolution that the Los Angeles Community College District begin a voluntary child-support deduction program.
The concept has received overwhelming support. The Personnel Committee of the district, of which I am chair, will soon be holding public hearings to solicit the widest possible input from our employees, the administrative staff and the Los Angeles community.
This program could not be simpler and more common sense. It costs virtually nothing and the bottom line is, it’s for the kids-- para los ninos .
