Local News in Brief : Cypress : Woman Dies of Injuries From Traffic Accident

A Cypress woman has died of injuries she suffered in a July 18 traffic accident, authorities said.
Celia Barrett, 65, was pronounced dead at 4:08 p.m. Wednesday at Los Alamitos Medical Center, where she was taken after the accident on Katella Avenue at Walker Street in Cypress, a spokesman for the coroner’s office said.
Cypress Police Sgt. Ray Peterson said Barrett had been in a vehicle driven by her daughter, Maria Rita Riley, 46, of Garden Grove, heading west on Katella when the car collided with a vehicle turning left from eastbound Katella onto Walker.
The driver of that vehicle, Mary Theresa De La Cruz, 35, of Garden Grove, was cited for running a red light, Peterson said. Additional charges may be considered in the wake of Barrett’s death, Peterson said.
