An escapee from Lompoc Federal Penitentiary killed himself at his Portland, Ore., home Sunday after holding his estranged wife and her boyfriend hostage, authorities said. Herbert Lamar Weeks, 47, was found dead in the garage of his house, apparently of carbon monoxide poisoning. He had kept police at bay most of Saturday and forced the evacuation of nine nearby homes.
