The Glendale school board Tuesday approved an $83.2-million budget for 1988-89, an increase of 11.5% over the past year’s budget.
The increase reflects a 4.1% state cost-of-living adjustment and revenues from a projected enrollment growth of 657 students.
The budget contains $65.4 million for salaries and benefits, $10.7 million for operating expenses, books and supplies, maintenance, improvements and new equipment such as computers. Three major construction projects at Mann, Muir and Marshall elementary schools are expected to cost $7.1 million.
State funds account for 89% of the budget; lottery revenues 3.1%; local funds 3.8%, and federal funds--which are restricted to specific projects--make up 4.1%.
