AT&T; Raises Its Stake in Sun Microsystems

American Telephone & Telegraph Co. boosted its stake in Sun Microsystems Inc. a Mountainview, Calif., computer manufacturer to 9.7%, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

AT&T; will be required to buy 883,402 newly issued common shares of Sun Microsystems Inc. for nearly $42 million under an agreement with the computer maker.

AT&T; bought the shares between May 23 and Aug. 26.
