‘Different World’ Rerun Edges Out Olympics

The most watched program on television last week was on NBC, but it wasn’t the Olympics.
A rerun of “A Different World” topped the ratings list released Tuesday by the A. C. Nielsen Co., with the first three nights of the Olympics finishing respectably but far from spectacularly.
NBC’s Sunday night telecast ranked as the week’s second-most-watched program, attracting 30% of the available audience, about 16 million homes.
Saturday’s Olympic broadcast was 8th--reruns of “The Cosby Show” and the TV movie “Rockabye” did better--and Friday’s Opening Ceremonies placed 10th.
