CIA Activities in Nicaragua

I would like to thank Wright for telling the American people about our covert activities in Nicaragua. Many in Congress and the executive branch wanted this “dangerous” knowledge kept secret. But from whom? Certainly not the Sandinistas, for they were painfully aware of Wright’s disclosures.
Some national leaders on both sides of the aisle must also abhor recently published Government Accounting Office criticisms of the National Security Council. GAO discovered a CIA-type domestic disinformation campaign emanating from the White House which successfully targeted the print media. This was also accomplished at taxpayers’ expense.
This type of self-serving secrecy damages the concept of a democratic society. Can’t the American people be trusted with the truth about our government? Are we the enemy? Or is this an indicator of how tainted our national authority perceives itself to be?
