The Colleges : Community College Roundup : Golden West Balance Leads to Victory

A balanced attack led Golden West College to a 14-6 victory over Orange Coast in a nonconference water polo match Wednesday at Orange Coast.

Chris Tichy, Andy Parazettechomin, Mike McClain, Jim Lee, Pono Faulkner and Greg Luttrell each scored two goals for the Rustlers (12-1). Goalie Mike Cassity made seven saves for Golden West.

Tony Litwak had four goals and Medesto Sanchez two for Orange Coast (11-2).

In Orange Empire Conference women’s volleyball:

Golden West 3, Cypress 0--Julie Back had 11 aces and 3 kills as host Golden West won, 15-0, 15-2, 15-7. The Rustlers (3-1, 2-0) had 37 aces.

Fullerton 3, Orange Coast 1--Host Fullerton won, 15-4, 14-16, 15-11, 15-10. Jody Fee had 15 kills and Jeana Weber 12 for Orange Coast (1-4, 0-1). Fullerton is 1-0 in conference play.

In nonconference wrestling:

Cypress 43, San Bernardino 3--The host Chargers got pins from Doug Haring, Greg Monteith and Randy Gonzales. Haring won his 137-pound bout at 1 minute 9 seconds. Monteith won the 180-pound division at 1:09. Gonzalez won the heavyweight bout at 1:35.
