About two dozen dissident South Korean students armed with iron pipes stormed a legislator’s office in Seoul and demanded the arrest and punishment of former President Chun Doo Hwan and his wife on charges of corruption and abuse of power. The radicals locked themselves in the office of Chung Ho Yong, a senior member of the ruling Democratic Justice Party and a former general. Dissidents say he helped suppress the 1980 Kwangju uprising. Police surrounded the building, broke through the office door and arrested the students. At least two students were reported injured.
