Prep Football : Sea Kings Win Brawl-Marred Game, 21-12

Corona del Mar High School improved its record to 5-0 with a 21-12 victory over Costa Mesa Friday night in front of 1,000 at Newport Harbor High School.
The game was marred by a bench-clearing brawl in front of the Costa Mesa bench with 1 minute 57 seconds to play. Before play was resumed, 5 players were ejected, 3 from Costa Mesa and 2 from Corona del Mar.
The Sea Kings scored first when Chris Borg broke loose for a 49-yard touchdown run with 3:25 left in the first quarter. Senior running back Greg Haack put the Sea Kings two touchdowns ahead with a 1-yard run with 49 seconds left in the half.
Costa Mesa scored five plays after an interception by linebacker Jim Hastie at the Corona del Mar 24-yard line in the third period. Mustang quarterback Rich Schones scored from 1-yard out.
Sea King running back John Katovsich, breaking six tackles, raced 31 yards for a third-quarter touchdown. The Mustangs (2-2-1) drove 80 yards, scoring with 1:22 left on a 6-yard pass from Schones to wide receiver Duby Ospine.
