Newbury Park 19, Westlake 13--Kelly Carmack rushed for a game-high 75 yards in 21 carries and scored twice at Thousand Oaks High to lead the Panthers to their first victory.
Westlake, which is winless, turned the ball over 5 times and managed only 23 yards rushing.
Carmack scored on runs of 22 yards and 1 yard in the first half as Newbury Park built a 12-0 lead. Newbury Park took a 19-7 lead on a 12-yard pass from Wayne Cook to Brandon Sciumbato in the fourth quarter.
Cook, seeing his first action after missing three games with a thumb injury, completed 9 of 21 passes for 120 yards.
Keith Hess returned a blocked punt 25 yards and Keith Burke scored on a 3-yard dive for Westlake.
Westlake quarterback Todd Preston completed 9 of 14 passes for 134 yards but threw 2 interceptions.
Newbury Park’s Eric Greene caught 3 passes for 50 yards and intercepted a Preston pass with 3:29 remaining.
