Ohio State has decided not to forfeit...

Ohio State has decided not to forfeit its 26-9 victory over Syracuse on Sept. 10 after being advised that there was no existing NCAA rule requiring it to do so.

Ohio State investigated the possibility that it would have to forfeit the game and 12 others over the past two seasons because it used an ineligible player.

Ohio State announced last month that senior tailback Vince Workman had signed with an agent in 1987 and thus was ineligible for further intercollegiate play.

Ohio State Athletic Director James Jones initially said he would forfeit the game to Syracuse. But he later changed his mind after conferring with the NCAA and Big Ten.
