A man charged with 27 counts of murder in a May 14 bus crash near Carrollton, Ky., was released from jail, officials said. Larry W. Mahoney, 35, of Worthville, posted $540,000 bond at the Carroll Circuit Court, officials said. The fiery crash occurred as a church bus was returning from an outing at an amusement park. The bus was struck head-on by a pickup truck traveling the wrong way and driven by Mahoney, police said. Mahoney is charged with 27 counts of murder, 13 counts of first-degree assault, 44 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and one count of drunken driving.
