‘Crossing the Line’

You missed the point entirely in your editorial “Crossing the Line” (Oct. 2).
The law is for everyone, and should be “disbursed with an even hand.” To exempt anyone or any group (other than those legally exempt) opens the door to anyone or any group having sufficient clout to exempt itself from the law.
There is nothing in so-called “church law” which permits the church to offer sanctuary to lawbreakers, especially where the law is manifestly correct.
